Over the years the European Medicines Regulatory Network has collected a wealth of data about clinical trials through their clinical trials registers, CTIS and EudraCT.
ACT EU is focused on engaging with the community of stakeholders to understand how data about clinical trials can address their needs.
The stakeholders’ use cases are being collected to inform research priorities which may influence future public funding calls.
By highlighting research needs and facilitating analysis of clinical trial data, ACT EU will inform better research and development of medicines and policy making in the EU.
Trial Map
A map of clinical trials, integrated with the public portal of the Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS), emerged as a key request from the ACT EU workshop on clinical trials analytics in January 2024. Stakeholders highlighted the need for a simple dashboard that patients and healthcare professionals can use to easily locate clinical trials of interest in the EU.
For this purpose, ACT EU developed the Trial Map, a tool designed to empower patients by providing them with easy access to comprehensive information about clinical trials in their area.
The map:
- Makes it easier to find trials by geographic area and medical condition by enabling searches in lay language (through the Consumer Health Vocabulary);
- Helps patients to locate trials of interest which they can discuss with their healthcare professionals.
